Chapter President: Manuel (Manny) Avitia

Manny was elected as the Los Angeles Chapter President in 2012. Manny has been committed to serving the organization and helping it reach its goals. Manny's strategy is to develop and execute chapter events, thereby increasing membership participation and networking opportunities. In addition, Manny is currently serving as co-chair organizing the 2015 H.I.R.E. National's 25th anniversary! The conference will take place August 27 & 28, in Anaheim, California.

In 2009, Manny was sponsored to attend the Philadelphia H.I.R.E. National Training Conference. This conference not only opened Manny's eyes to the experience that he wanted but, it also inspired him to pursue a re-launch of the Los Angeles Chapter, a chapter with roots stemming to the '80's.

Manny joined the Internal Revenue Service in 2006. Manny has worked both in SB/SE and LB&I divisions in Los Angeles and Glendale, California. As a way of giving back to his community, Manny has volunteered as a tax return preparer through VITA for the past 11 years. Chapter Treasurer: Maria C. Marin

Maria was appointed to the Treasurer position and she is committed to assisting the organization reach its financial goals. Maria believes the organization's mission is fulfilling given it offers the opportunity to professionally develop herself as well as others. H.I.R.E. also provides Maria an opportunity to give back to the community it serves.

In 2012, Maria became a member of H.I.R.E. and began contributing to the organization by volunteering at the East Los Angeles Centro Maravilla VITA site. In 2013, Maria coordinated and continues to coordinate the VVITA site at the Potrero Heights Park Community and Senior Center in Montebello.

Maria Marin joined the Internal Revenue Service in 2009. Maria is currently part of the SB/SE division in El Monte, California. Maria can be reached regarding H.I.R.E. matters at LATreasurer@hire.org.
